As predicted pre-SHOT Show, 2015 looks to be the year of the scour rifle. We’ve already seen two new introductions and Ruger and Steyr have added models to the line up. Some may find the concept unusual but the good news is these rifles have a lot to offer even if you choose to not use a scout scope. Traditional scopes can be mounted to all of these utilitarian rifles. I talked with a Ruger Gunsite Scout Rifle owner yesterday who mounted a traditional Swarovski riflescope to his rifle and he said he liked it better than the idea of a date with Raquel Welch. (Hey, he is an older guy.) Here is a rundown of the current scout rifle options.
