ABOUT Richard Mann

Richard Mann was born and raised in West Virginia, and has hunted from the Montana mountains to the green hills of Africa.

Richard is a veteran and former patrol officer and special agent. Richard was the winner of the West Virginia National Guard 1999 State Pistol Match and worked as a small arms instructor in the military and in law enforcement. He’s is the author of Rifle Bullets for the Hunter, Handgun Training for Personal Protection, Shooter’s Guide to the AR, 13th Edition of Cartridges of the World, Under Orion Volumes 1 & 2, and The Scout Rifle Study.

Richard is currently the Shooting Editor for  Field & Stream, and frequently contributes to Shooting IllustratedGun Digest, and Game & Fish magazines, as well as various other publications from time to time. Richard recently launched the EmptyCases Substack.

A hillbilly at heart, Richard lives on Shadowland – his shooting range in West Virginia – with the most understanding wife in the world, their three kids, a very protective Rhodesian Ridgeback and a pack of her descendants.
