Sunday Morning in the Kitchen

No apple turnovers today! In preparation for the finalization of a research project on the .300 Blackout and the testing of some of Federal’s – newly released for consumers – HST ammo, this morning we all gathered in the kitchen to mix 14 blocks of 10% ordnance gelatin. The process is greatly simplified by using my milk carton trick but it is still about as much fun as pulling a tooth with a pair of rusty needly nose pliers.

Still, I would encourage anyone with any interest in terminal performance to give it a try at least once. It is an educational experience with regard to bullets and it will also convince you that becoming a ballistics engineer is probably not the best career path. I’m not a cook by any stretch of the imagination but I’d rather make a cake than conjure up a single block of ordnance gelatin. At least with the cake, eating your mistakes – or successes – is an enjoyable by product.
