Competition and the Defensive Handgunner

Travis Tomasie is a fantastic shot with a pistol. He is accurate and fast. Hell, he is a world champion. I could not beat him if he had a hand tied behind his back. That said, from the defensive handgunner’s standpoint, competition can create bad habits. Watch the video. It was not staged; we discovered this difference after filming and agreed it is a common theme with competitive shooters.

I never gave it much thought, just like swiping the safety
off my 1911. As for range rules, well I follow them, but at the end
of the day when I leave, I leave carrying a loaded weapon, legally
    of course.
