About Empty Cases

Empty Cases is the on-line portal to the works of Richard Mann.

Born and raised in West Virginia, Richard has hunted from the Montana mountains to the green hills of Africa. He has a military, law enforcement, firearms instructing, and competitive shooting background, and is the author of Rifle Bullets for the Hunter, Handgun Training for Personal Protection, Shooter’s Guide to the AR, 13th Edition of Cartridges of the World, Under Orion, and The Scout Rifle Study.

Richard is a Field Editor for Field & Stream magazine, and currently contributes to a variety of other gun and hunting periodicals. In 2019 Richard worked as the Executive Producer and host of the Amazon Prime reality hunting drama, WILDCraft: South Africa.

A hillbilly at heart, Richard lives on Shadowland – his shooting range in West Virginia – with the most understanding wife in the world, their three kids, and a very protective Rhodesian Ridgeback.
