According to Savage, this “scout” weighs 7.8 lbs. That’s over 1.5 lbs more than the polymer Ruger Scout. That’s a lot of extra weight. Secondly, Savage moved away from AICS magazines apparently and will now be using proprietary magazines on this rifle. With the release of a magpul AICS pattern magazine, I think that is a terrible move for Savage. For those two reasons I won’t buy this rifle and will likely buy the Ruger. I have 4 AICS pattern mags for one Savage and really don’t feel like needing to buy new Savage mags for this one. Savage needs to stop changing major aspects of their rifles every three years. Its getting hard to keep up with.
