Rifle / Shooter interface is often overlooked and misunderstood. One reason is because for more than a century shooters have been regulated to standard stock designs. The result is the universal acceptance that rifle stocks don’t fit and that a shooter must conform to their rifle. This does nothing to help shooters hit what they’re shooting at. In a perfect world, your rifle would fit you. Fortunately, Mossberg has taken a forward step in that direction with their MVP LR rifles.
The inclusion of an adjustable comb that is non intrusive allows the shooter to tune the rifle to fit them and whichever sighting system they have in place. It’s a brilliant design and in reality should be included on a lot more stocks than it is. Short of having a rifle that is custom fit for you or one that has a properly designed stock, like the expensive custom rifles from New Ultra Light Arms or the almost as expensive Steyr Scout, the adjustable cheek weld on the Mossberg MVP LR is the next best thing.
The last thing you want to do is mount an expensive, high quality scope like a Nightforce ATACR on your rifle and not be able to see through it.
